Varun Sahni (2008-09)
Varun Sahni is the Director of Acumen Fund, India. Acumen Fund is a NewYork based global social venture capital fund that invests debt and equity in enterprises, having developed goods and services for low income communities in the water, health, housing and energy sectors. He is responsible for Acumen Fund’s global pipeline of investments, ensuring deal movement to the global investment committee. Earlier he was a consultant in project Shakti in Hindustan Lever Ltd. He developed partnership networks with multiple NGO’s and State Governments to scale project Shakti’s direct distribution network to over 35,000 villages, through 12,000 entrepreneurs. He was a programme associate with Care India. Designed proposals and secured USD 6 Million in funding from UK and US based multilateral donor agencies for projects in enterprise development and disaster mitigation.
