Venkat Changavalli (2010-11)

Venkat Changavalli is the Chief Executive Officer of GVK Emergency Management and Research Institute (EMRI), a not-for-profit organization with a vision to respond to 30 million emergencies and save 1 million lives annually. He is an MBA from IIM, Ahmedabad and has done B.Tech (Chemical) from NIT, Warangal. Mr. Changavalli has made outstanding contribution in the field of Emergency Management Services, Public Health at national and international levels. Under his leadership, 108 services started in Hyderabad in August 2005. In less than 5 years, the service reached out to 9 states (400M population) with 2,600 ambulances. In these 5 years, GVK EMRI has responded to 10 Million emergencies and saved over 260,000 lives. His passion to contribute to the EM services in the nation has resulted in EMRI developing public health care infrastructure (EM Rooms in CHCs) and human resources (EM Training of Government doctors and nurses). His effort to ensure that Emergency Management & Care Services are given, free of cost, to every individual has been appreciated and written about by several leading national and international publications. His insights gained through experiential learning are now taken as recommendations in various other countries. Mr. Changavalli has received awards for his yeoman services including Pranadata Award, Microsoft Citizenship Partner of the Year Award, HEAL Leadership Award, AAEMI award for the Moral Courage Shown in Leading EMRI, to name a few.

Ms. Subha Rajan Tampi (2010-11)

Ms. Subha Rajan joined CII Confederation of Indian Industry in 1990. She was the first CEO of the OIFC (overseas Indian Facilitation Centre), jointly organized by the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs Diaspora. She has been a part of the world economic forum and the India economic summit. Currently, she is the Director of CII and is involved in Counseling, CSR, Trade, Economic Promotion and Nation Building activities. She has spent most of her life living with and supporting the down trodden and under privileged all over the world. She has worked with the lepers in the only leper colony in the world in Liberia and also with the physically and mentally challenged in Africa’s remote villages. In India, she has been with slum children and has specially worked for the interest of the girl child. She has travelled the entire length & breadth of India visiting remote schools in for away villages & interacting with women and children. She has also helped burnt girls to get plastic surgery. She also counsels inmates in Delhi Jails. She works for the promotion of India and has helped build the Indian Image abroad. Besides, she has been actively involved with circle of animal lovers and has helped sterilize stray dogs and help stray animals. She also takes interest in the environmental issues and has been a spokesperson for the issue of global warming.

Dr. Villoo Morawala Patell (2009-10)

Dr.Villoo Morawala-Patell is the Founder, Chairperson and Managing Director of Avesthagen Limited. Her company is based on unique model that focuses on the convergence of food, pharma and population genetics. A convergence that leads to continuous and path- breaking innovations in predictive, preventive, personalised healthcare. Whether she is wooing investors, building a patent portfolio, critiquing multinational pharmaceutical firms or tackling hereditary diseases in her native community, she brings a unique mix of dynamism and intellectual verve to the table.  With the success and immense recognition to her work and name, she certainly takes women empowerment to a whole new level.

Meera Sanyal (2008-09)

Meera H. Sanyal is Country Executive - ABN AMRO Bank, India & Chairperson, ACES. Meera is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, UK and an MBA from INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France. Meera is an active participant in various Sustainable Development initiatives of the Bank that focus on children, women and environment. She is the Chairperson of ABN AMRO Foundation India, set up in 2006, works closely with microfinance institutions in some of the poorest regions in India, building their capacities for effective delivery of microfinance services. The most unique feature of AAFI is its comprehensive approach in addressing the issue of financial inclusion. Going forward AAFI has planned various initiatives to achieve its ambition of being a catalyst in making the poor self reliant, while balancing the goal of revenue generation.


Arun Maira (2006-07)

Arun Maira, with an unusual combination of hands-on-leadership and consulting experience, is a thought leader on the subject of transformational change and leadership. Arun Maira is deeply engaged with collaborative processes for addressing issues of development in India and abroad, and the role of business corporations in these processes. He has been promoting Corporate & citizen social responsibility in the corporate sector at CII and other forums and with effective writing in newspapers





Anu Aga (2006-07)

Anu Aga has been acclaimed for her masterly handling of Thermax, making it one among the few woman-headed multinational companies in India. She is the first Corporate Citizen who promoted 1% of profits for charitable causes, involved with various charities. She is among the rarest of CEOs who took a stand and publicly spoke out during the Gujarat Violence of 2002, and personally visited the relief camps. She has contributed significantly to freedom of the press in India.
